'Diarra From Detroit' - Dangerously in Like

Is Diarra's situationship with Danger the key to solving the Deonte Brooks case?

Previously, Diarra was abducted after watching a poisoned Zervas drop dead in front of her. Now, her entire crew is gathered at her crib and panics about her whereabouts during a Detroit snowstorm.

The kidnapping

Early on, we learn that her captor is Aaron, who is not only a cop but also Swa's brother and is just protecting her. He brings her to his Tahiti-themed mancave, where Swa awaits. Her ex-husband has questions, including why a lawyer for the Greek mob wants a sit-down with her. The lawyer in question is Goldie from the warehouse, and Swa has crossed paths with her before. Why are they after Diarra? She tells Swa she's in possession of something they want.

The tape

When Diarra reappears with Swa, they deduce something is on the Mary J. Blige cassette tape and send Roman into the storm for a player. Swa, meanwhile, has a call with Goldie where she shares that she's not the only one looking for that tape.

Two men

Danger stops by with his famous chili. Swa clocks the energy between them, and the tension is thick. Swa still loves her, and during her false abduction, they shared a kiss in Aaron's mancave as they reminisced over old times. Meanwhile, Diarra has been getting massages from Danger to help her sleep.

Both of her romantic interests are connected to dangerous women. Swa has a professional relationship with Goldie, while Danger is still in contact with Velvet, his mother figure when he was one of the Woodward Boys. The crew is pressing Roman's shop for money, and he's considering giving his shop to them to pay his debt.

As the electricity goes out, a car sent by Velvet makes its way to Diarra's house.

Danger

When Diarra listens to the tape, it's Jodeci. The tape was swapped! At first, Diarra believes either Swa or Roman swapped the tape since they both want their wives off the case. Although neither is responsible, Roman is hiding something. He admits a green impala pulled into the shop, which leads Diarra to deduce the Woodward Boys' involvement in the case and how they're at war with the Greek over a deal gone bad in 1995. This deal, presumably, is that the Greeks hired them to abduct Deonte Sr.

She immediately questions Danger, who is a reformed Woodward Boy. She knows he switched the tape and that his stepson drove the Impala into Roman's shop. This is the same car used to abduct Deonte. She also correctly deduces he shot the Russian.

Velvet

One of Velvet's boys enters the house with a gun and a spider tattoo. Diarra gives up the evidence, including the tape (probably Jodeci and not Mary), and as he's leaving, Swa strikes him, and the gun goes off, hitting Mr. Tea in the leg.

Danger tells Diarra he was an errand boy adopted into the Woodward Boys by Velvet. He was the one who mistakenly pointed the crew in the direction of Deonte Jr. when the Greeks were actually after Deonte's dad. He made a child's mistake on behalf of a gang hired by the Greek mob. Velvet shot Deonte Jr. and buried him in the woods. Chris is not Deonte Brooks, just someone who was blackmailing Velvet and the Greeks.

Home

With Deonte dead, Danger a liar, and Ambien Chris a blackmailing con man, Diarra returns home to Swa.

Questions

Will we ever meet The Chief?

Is Chris really a bad guy, or did he just get in over his head?

Will Diarra and Swa move forward with their divorce?
